Okay, get this: you can own Corel Draw 7 (a limited edition with
reduced features but which still does TrueType exports) for $3.99
plus shipping!!! I requested UPS 2nd-Day Air service and got a
disk for about $15.00. The best part? It's not an auction -
no bidding! If you decide to go this route and order Corel Draw 7
(which includes Corel OCR-Trace and Corel PhotoPaint with it), keep in
mind it's an OEM edition - no manual comes with it. My copy didn't
include a serial number, but the program installs and runs without
it. And you'll still need to do a Custom Install to get the
TrueType Export feature. Corel Draw 7 will, unlike Corel Draw 4,
save Corel Draw files (.CDR) under Windows XP properly (whereas Corel
Draw only saves them under Windows 98 or earlier). Good stuff!

This company has a pretty good font editing tool which they sell for
$50. The great part is that you can download it and try it for 30
days before you buy it. The feature set is pretty
impressive. Give these guys a look!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Corel Downloads page, where
you can get a fully-functional copy of the latest Corel Draw package for
free, on a trial basis, for 30 days. Curious about Corel
Draw? Here's a no-risk way to find out about it.

eBay, of course, is THE place to go if you're looking for outdated
software titles. Here, you can purchase previous versions of Corel
Draw and you may even be able - if you're really lucky - to find FontLab
for sale somewhere (but I wouldn't count on it). The only catch -
you may have to outbid someone else to get what you want. Search
through the auctions with "Buy It Now" first.

This is absolutely the best site I've ever visited for TrueType
fonts. Not only did they have a font I was wanting (Microgramma
Bold Extended), but they had it at a great price. You can even
"test drive" a font by typing a line of text into a box and
see it instantly rendered before your eyes. Brilliant!
